Former U.I.C. star Kenny Williams will be leading the American Basketball Association's Chicago Rockstars this season. This brand new entry into a crowded A.B.A. field of teams will play all it's home games at Northeastern University on Chicago's north side. The season runs from November to March for this team that features several legendary players from the near past, such as Marcus Liberty, Imari Sawyer, and Jerrod Gee.

At a recent practice Williams, a 1994 graduate of U.I.C. who quit his full time job to coach the RockStars, examined his team and his hopes for their success as well as this league's. "I don't want to single out any individual for praise yet," he said, "It's to early for that and we are just getting to know each other. But we are seeing different players everyday rise to the occasion, and that's a very good thing."  On the league, Williams is enthused. "First off it's pro basketball and it's affordable," he stated. "From a Chicago stand point it's good to have another professional team here. The players are touchable and you can come right up to them. Also we are doing a lot of charitable work in the community. As a league we are more community based (Than the N.B.A.) and I think that's a selling point for our teams."
